A rutin nanocrystal gel as an effective dermal delivery system for enhanced anti-photoaging application

As a natural flavonoid compound, rutin could scavenge free radicals effectively to achieve remarkable antioxidant and anti-photoaging activity. Unfortunately, the extremely low water solubility of often leads poor percutaneous permeability unsatisfactory bioavailability, which has greatly restricted its clinical application. In this study, novel freeze-dried nanocrystal was developed improve saturation solubility, further redispersed in carbopol gel formulate targeted (NC-gel) for enhanced transdermal delivery efficiency. Benefit from advantages NC-gel, permeated amounts on mice NC-gel group more than three times enhancement over that coarse drug group. Furthermore, results pharmacodynamic studies vivo demonstrated prevent skin photoaging tissue damage induced by UV irradiation. Taken together, these validated an ideal carrier epidermal application obtain excellent effect, might provide valuable platform improving bioavailability insoluble drugs.
